Websites are only one part of effective Troop Communication. Printed calendars, fliers, email lists and phone calls are also important tools available to the members of a troop. Troop members should be aware that list emailing may be a time-saving way to communicate with the troop, but it is “time-sensitive” because some people don’t check their email regularly. If you utilize this method, please include your phone number; be short, to the point, and infrequent. A website is available 24/7, can have a public face and a private side, can include photo galleries and video (which MUST have a photo release for those depicted), and should never include full names of Scouts on the public side of the site.
